Cassel Hospital Charitable Trust launched

From its earliest days, the Cassel Hospital has been supported by a charity, originally comprising its clinicians, their families and local residents, and notably by the Mountbatten family, as founder Sir Ernest Cassel’s granddaughter Edwina became Lady Mountbatten when she married Louis Mountbatten.

The hospital has also enjoyed the royal patronage of Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, The Queen mother and, after her death in 2004, by her Royal Highness, Princess Alexandra, who has been our esteemed patron now for 20 years.

In 2000, the three separate charities, formed for specific purposes, were consolidated into the current Cassel Hospital Charitable Trust and registered with the Charity Commission.
