British Journal of Psychotherapy publishes Cassel papers

The three conference papers from the Cassel Hospital Summer Conference 2024 have now been published in the British Journal of Psychotherapy (Volume 41:3 August 2025).
Adult Psychotherapist Sally Arthur comments: “The BJP journal is well respected in the field of psychoanalytic psychotherapy journals, so it is wonderful that we have been able to publicise the good work that we do in West London NHS.
“Well done to our newly published authors Simmi Protab (Clinical Nurse Manager), Sarah Miell (Psychosocial Nurse), Ricardo Readi (Psychotherapist), Tom Dalton (Psychiatrist) who have written excellent papers about the work that we do in the National Specialist Tier 4 Personality Disorder Service for adults at the Cassel Hospital.”
The papers provide a flavour of the multi-layered psychoanalytic and community approach that helps Cassel patients tackle complex mental health problems and recover some agency over their lives.
The three papers are:
Tom Dalton – Double-Edged: Thinking about Healthcare Professionals’ Responses to Self-Harm
Sarah Miell and Simmi Protab- Out of sight, out of Mind? Working with Separation and Risk when Patients are Away from the Hospital
Ricardo Readi- Defensive Care.
