The Cassel Hospital Charitable Trust (CHCT) is a charity run by volunteers.
From its earliest days, the hospital was supported by Cassel family members, clinical staff and local residents. These early charities were consolidated in 2000 and the CHCT’s charitable objects registered with the Charity Commission.
What we do
Our charity promotes the effective care and treatment of adults and young people suffering from mental illness – primarily those with personality disorders and complex trauma.
We do this by fundraising in four key areas.
Care and treatment
We sponsor educational and social projects to support the specialist treatment of people with personality disorders and complex trauma.
Research and innovation
We fund vital research and innovation to improve the lives of people with personality disorders and complex trauma.
Education and training
We support The Cassel’s leading-edge national education and training programmes. Patients and staff are welcome to apply to The Charitable Trust for financial support for projects and activities.

Maintain buildings and facilities
We enhance patient care and treatment by helping with the upkeep of buildings, facilities and equipment.
