A separate Adolescent Service was established
The service was set up following months of detailed discussion with nursing and medical staff and parents. They considered how to set up a new adolescent unit within an existing service; how to deal with a group of adolescents; consequent problems of control and ways of ‘ holding’ these people; the ratio of young people to older people; and where in the community to house the unit – for example whether it would be appropriate to house boys and girls closely together.
